Blindfolded Moon
Feb 26th 2016
Exactly three years since we started recording our reading. Between us we have read 750 books, a nice round number.
Admin2 is reading All the Birds in the Sky by Charlie Jane Anders, and finding it pretty irritating, but who knows, it might improve if the protagonists ever grow up. But it didn’t. Reads like a kid’s book with a few fucking swear words and oodles of macguffins.

Iridescent Clouds
Feb 25th 2016
The solar panels scraped 3kWh today. Admin1 is reading Stolen Prey by John Sandford.
Coffee of the day: Bottega Milanese Espresso Classica.

Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again
Feb 21st 2016
Despite the clouds, rain and wind we had our best solar panel day this year. We surmised that the clouds diffused the light, the wind cooled the panels to increase their efficiency and the raindrops acted as lenses to concentrate what sun there was on the cells.
Admin1 is reading White Devils by Paul McAuley. Admin2 is reading Twenty Trillion Leagues under the Sea by Adam Roberts. We scored 10 (yay!) on the Guardian Weekend quiz.

Hooray Hooray It’s a Halo Halo Day
Feb 9th 2016
It’s our first >2kWh solar panel day this year. Pancake Day too, thx Admin1.
Admin1 is reading The Lives of Tao by Wesley Chu (adolescent wish-fulfilment. No redeeming qualities). Admin2 is reading Barracuda by Christos Tsiolkas (adolescent dashed hopes).

Storm Imogen and a rainbow. Happy new year of the monkey everybody.
Admin1 is reading The Disappeared by Kristina Ohlsson. Admin2 is reading The Thing Itself by Adam Roberts which was mind-blowing. But why the hell did The Times review on the cover compare it to Swift, Orwell and Atwood, like none of which it is? Because those are the only three imaginative writers literary critics know? [Admin1: They would have been better comparing it to David Mitchell, Alasdair Gray or perhaps DM Thomas.]

Blackcap
Feb 4th 2016
Sylvia atricapilla enjoying our fat balls.
Admin1 is reading The Unquiet Grave by Steven Dunne (a who dunne it ha ha — overplotted, implausible and melodramatic). Admin2 is reading The Wrong Girl by David Hewson.

S Is for Storm Henry
Feb 2nd 2016
Admin1 is reading The Thing Itself by Adam ‘Clever Dick’ Roberts, who uses Kant to approach the Fermi Paradox. Let’s play Spot the Pastiche! I got Joyce and Wittgenstein, but the rest … Pepys? Defoe/Richardson? Proust/Mann? Ah, too clever for me. But ACDR’s enjoyment in his invention is infectious and persuasive, and the result was extremely enjoyable.
Admin2 is reading Wylding Hall by Elizabeth Hand.

Red White and Blue
Jan 30th 2016
A few minutes of clear skies in between the heavy rain, sleet and icy, blustery winds. We’ve now had 25 days of rain in each of the last 3 months.
Admin1 is reading The G File by Håkan Nesser. Admin2 is reading Black Widow by Christopher Brookmyre which was disappointingly guessable. We scored a miserable 6.5 on the Guardian Weekend quiz.
